OK, so you're hungover. And possibly even in a haze of regret after the previous day's transgressions. It's happened to the best of us. But this morning, you have a choice: further feed that hangover with crappy food or give your body the antidote it needs.
Time for some biochemistry. Hangovers are largely the result of incomplete detoxification of alcohol from your system. Your body didn't have enough raw ingredients to complete the job, so the booze got converted into little pain-inducing intermediate metabolite bio-missiles. Your liver needs the right nutrients if it's gonna mop up this mess and help you feel better again. Which is exactly what this meal contains.
In a sauté pan over medium heat, add a knob of butter or a bit of coconut oil. Once melted, add two big handfuls chopped curly kale. Cover and stir occasionally for 5-10 mins until the kale softens. Add in some sea salt to taste, 1 clove minced garlic, and a pinch of freshly minced red chili, and transfer to a plate. If you have some onion, you can dice and sauté along with the kale if that sounds yummy to you.
While the kale is cooking, beat three eggs with 1/3-1/2 tsp ground turmeric, a pinch of sea salt, and little bit of fresh black pepper. Add another bit of butter or coconut oil into the sauté pan (after you've transferred the kale to a plate). Once it's melted, add the egg mix and cook by constantly stirring and scraping the eggs off the pan until they are your preferred scrambled consistency. Add the eggs to the plate and then toss on one half of a sliced avocado (or the whole thing if you're super hungry). Finish off with a generous garnish of broccoli sprouts (optional). This also goes great with a couple of flax crackers on the side.
